ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Sunday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif will never come back to Pakistan because of his love for money.

The premier stated this while speaking about Nawaz Sharif, who has been in London for more than a year on health grounds, during the fifth session of ‘Aap Ka Wazir Azam Aap Key Sath’ programme.

He also warned the opposition that he will prove more dangerous for them if forced out of the office. “You [opposition] will not find shelter if I took to the streets,” he said.

Nawaz Sharif is floating rumors about cutting a deal with the government to keep his party intact, the premier said, adding that the time of such corrupt elements has ended.

He reiterated his resolve of not giving any NRO to those who have plundered the wealth of the country, adding that giving NRO to them will be a treachery to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister said some media elements are spreading disappointment and hopelessness through fake news and negative propaganda.

About reports that the former premier is planning to return from London, Khan said he is waiting for Nawaz to come back. “Please come back, we are waiting for you.”

He also criticised PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and said that he “does not consider him the leader of the Opposition but a criminal.”

At the beginning of the session, the premier while responding to a question about inflation said that the biggest challenge government faces today is inflation and the rising prices of commodities.

“I am fully cognisant of the issues being faced by the common man due to rising prices,” he said, adding that it is a global phenomenon as countries like  the US and Canada are facing the inflation due to disruption in demand and supply chain.

Quoting report of the World Bank, Imran Khan said inflation is reducing in the country, while economy is growing by 5.37 percent, despite Covid-19 pandemic.

Replying to a caller, Imran Khan urged the people to strictly observe wearing of masks at public places to prevent spread of Omicron variant of Covid-19. He, however, made it clear that the government is not thinking of closing the businesses as it will cast a negative impact on our poor people.

Answering a query about PTI’s unsatisfactory performance in recently held local bodies’ elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Imran Khan said some mistakes were committed in those elections and he has constituted a committee to look into that matter.
