The City of Gardens – Lahore – has become a citadel of pollution as it still retains the number one position in the most polluted cities of the world on Sunday.
New Delhi sits on number two position in the most polluted cities of the world. Karachi takes 8th position in the polluted cities ranking with its Air Quality Index level at 165.
The Punjab cities including Jhelum, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Multan are also among the most polluted cities of the world.
According to the data provided by the environmental department, the pollution level in the city was recorded at 422 AQI. The citizens are falling prey to different kind of diseases related to breathing and throat.
The pollution level in Town Ship, sector 2, area of the city recorded at 214 AQI. In Town Hall, the AQI level was recorded at 221, in Assembly Hall the AQI level was 422 and at National Hockey Stadium, the AQI level was recorded at 391.
This data was collected during past 24 hours.
The pollution level in Jhelum city is also going up. Despite an order by the government, the brick kiln factories have not been transferred to zig-zag technology. The black clouds of smoke hovering over the city atmosphere speak volume of the administration’s efforts.
