CM hosts dinner for MPs from Punjab, assures their concerns will be addressed

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar who is currently visiting Islamabad called on Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday and briefed him of various achievements of the provincial government particularly success against Covid-19, winning of the allied parties’ support for the joint session of the Parliament today and the restoration of law and order in the province after the successful dialogue with Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

The main agenda of the meeting, according to sources however, was winning over the support of the PTI-government’s allied party in the province, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) for smooth passage of the bills in the joint session of the Parliament Wednesday (today).

Chief Minister Buzdar informed the prime minister about the fruits of his government’s hard-earned efforts and consultations between the PTI and the PML-Q on a number of issues.

Speaker Punjab Assembly and senior leader of the PML-Q Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has already announced support to the government on the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and other bills being tabled in the joint session of the Parliament.

The chief minister’s negotiating team has finally thrashed out the differences as a result of those consultations the sources quoted the chief minister as telling the prime minister.

During the meeting, CM Punjab also briefed the PM regarding ongoing projects in different constituencies of Punjab. Chief Minister assured the PM that all issues of the members of the National Assembly will be solved.

Later, the CM Punjab invited the National Assembly members of the PTI and the PML-Q to dinner at the Punjab House.

The members of the Parliament from Punjab briefed the chief minister about their constituencies’ problems. The Chief Minister assured them all their concerns would be addressed on priority basis.

Sardar Usman Bazdar will also review the proceedings of the joint session of Parliament today.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan met with the women members of the National Assembly and a number of other delegations of the MNAs. Among the women members of the NA who called on the PM included Kanwal Shauzab, Tashfeen Safdar, Wajih Ikram, Munawara Baloch, Saima Nadeem and Nusrat Wahid.

During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing development work in constituencies, Balochistan package and upgradation of public transport in Sindh particularly Karachi by the federal government.

Prime Minister also met MNAs Tahir Iqbal, Prince Muhammad Nawaz Alai, Javed Iqbal Warraich and Nasir Iqbal on Tuesday. Special Assistant on Political Affairs Malik Muhammad Dogar attended the meeting. During the meeting fateha was offered for the late mother of MNA Tahir Iqbal.

They discussed the ongoing development projects in Vehari and Battagram, infrastructure package of Rahim Yar Khan and improvement of the irrigation system.
