The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned former communications minister Asad Mahmood, son of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, on November 10 in an investigation into alleged irregularities in Pakistan Post recruitment during 2022 and 2023.
According to the NAB notice, 4,252 people were recruited against 3,938 approved vacancies, while appointments were also allegedly made against 2,646 abolished posts.
The bureau has raised concerns over permanent appointments despite recommendations for contractual hiring, along with alleged use of forged documents, recruitment of overage candidates and violations of domicile quotas.
Mahmood has been directed to appear before the investigation team at 11am. NAB warned that failure to comply could lead to legal action under the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
Separately, the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad has also summoned the former minister in connection with the same recruitment case.
