In defiance of the ban from the federal government on holding public rallies in the wake of the alarming surge in Covid-19, the Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) Sunday held a sizeable public meeting in Peshawar. They called for the early removal of the incumbent government that it said came through a stolen mandate and declared war against Prime Minister Imran Khan and his team.
“The PTI led selected government that has been installed through a stolen mandate is destined to go in January 2021, January is their last month in the power”. Claimed Bilawal Bhutto chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, a component of the 11 parties opposition alliance, while addressing the charged participants of the rally.
Central leadership of the PDM including its head Maulana Fazal ur Rehman of JUI, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Aimal Wali ANP, Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Qaumi Watan party chief Aftab Ahmad Sherpao were present of the occasion and addressed the rally. However, Central Vice Presidentof Pakistan Muslim League (N) Maryam Safdar could not address the Peshawar Jalsa owing to the demise of her grandmother Shamim Akhtar the same day. “I came to meet you and wanted to address you people but my grandmother has passed away in London, hence I have to leave”. Maryam said in her short speech before leaving the venue with tear in her eyes.
On the other hand the provincial government had made elaborate security arrangements and put in place an effective traffic plan to keep the routine traffic going.
The PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto who mostly criticized the PTI government and its policies reiterated his resolve to topple the Imran khan regime, continued to complain rigging in the recently concluded Gilgit Baltistan elections saying the PTI government came to power through rigged elections and they have also stolen PPP election Gilgit, where his party could hardly bag three seats and PTI is in a comfortable position to form government.
He claimed that people of KP were against the PTI government and wanted end to this regime. “The burden of selected government is being born by the common man; when we talk of the people miseries and hold rallies for their rights, the government reminds us of the Corona Virus”. Bilawal maintained and vowed to give KP “its due share”. PPP chairman rapped the NAB for what he said not acting against the ruling class and vowed that after coming into power his part would hold accountable each and every person in NAB, from investigation officer to its Chairman,
He also criticized the FATA merger saying those were only cosmetic changes and the tribal areas merger into KP brought no improvement in the lives of Tribal folk.
The JUI Supremo Maulana Fazal, who had lost elections on both the seats he contested from his home constituency D I Khan in 2018 general elections, claimed that all the opposition parties were unanimous in their stance that PTI came to power through rigged polls.
Fazal said the PTI government was a product of rigging and “ We out rightly reject this government”. Maulana claimed that PDM has been successfully holding rallies all over the country and had mustered enough public support. He said we declare war against the PTI government. “Battle is on and we are going to advance it. It will be a sin if we retreat from the battlefield.”. He said adding
The JUI Chief as usual accused the establishment saying though we respect the Army and other national institutions. But we know who helped the PTI government rig the elections and who installed them to power.
