As the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic rages across the globe, Pakistan reported 25 more deaths during the last 24 hours by Covid-19. The number of positive cases has surged to 343,189.
As per the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday morning, 1,436 people have been tested positive for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours. With the addition of 25 more fatalities, the nationwide death toll jumped to 6,968.
The National Command and Operations Center has issued new guidelines for wedding ceremonies which will be implemented in certain cities from November 20. Guidelines will be implemented in seven cities of Punjab, two of Sindh, one of Balochistan and one of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Only outdoor marriages allowed with upper limit of 1,000 persons according to the NCOC notification. Canopy tent use is banned, buffet dinner or lunch is closed, food will be given in boxes, while table service will be allowed. Every guest must wear a mask, the host will also provide a sanitizer according to the new guidelines.
The event will be held and the venue will be chosen in consultation with the local health authority. Marquees will not be allowed to hold wedding ceremonies. There will be a distance of six feet between the participants in the wedding ceremony. The host of the wedding will be responsible for implementing the Coronavirus SOPs.
In addition, the duration of the wedding ceremony will be only two hours which will end at ten o’ clock at night. Every guest at the wedding will have to wear a mask. The host will provide a mask and sanitizer to every wedding guest.
As many as 149,542 coronavirus cases have so far been confirmed in Sindh, 106,577 in Punjab, 40,397 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 21,557 in Islamabad, 16,055 in Balochistan, 4,703 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 4,358 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Punjab has recorded 369 new Covid-19 infections and eight more fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the government’s database for tracking the spread of coronavirus in the country.
This has taken the provincial caseload to 106,577 and total number of deaths to 2,407. Sindh has reported 627 new cases of the novel coronavirus, raising the provincial tally to 150,169.
Moreover, the statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House confirmed the deaths of five more persons during the last 24 hours. The death toll now stands at 2,684.
