Sindh Minister Taimur Talpur termed the farewell press conference of Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar as crocodile tears and said that the Mayor Karachi actions were limited to weeping like PTI. “The mayor of Karachi and the chairman of the MQM’s DMCs, instead of responding to thier four-year performances, are befooling people.” He said that the recent tenure of Wasim Akhtar’s mayorship was the worst period of KMC, during which there was a record increase in crimes like illegal recruitment, tenders, contracts and taking commissions on development works. Wasim Akhtar did not need any authority to commit corruption but when it came to serving the people, the mayor kept crying that he did not have any authority. Talpur said that the conscious people of Karachi have come to know that the biggest hurdle in the development of Karachi and the provision of basic amenities to the people is the MQM which despite being part of different governments in its 32 years of political tenure. They gave nothing but sacked corpses, china cutting, extortion and gutter politics. He said that MQM would not play any role anymore and the worst defeat of MQM in the upcoming local body elections was their destiny. The minister further said that the Sindh government had released additional funds to KMC and DMCs in addition to the budget so that the problems of the city could be solved. Cleaning of drains is the responsibility of KMC and DMCs. The Sindh government released crores of rupees to KMC for cleaning Karachi’s drains. He said that the Sindh government in collaboration with the World Bank swept. The project on which work has begun.
