37 Corona deaths, 2304 new cases emerge in Pakistan PPP MPA Jam Madad Ali passes away

Pakistan has reported 37 deaths in the last 24 hours by the novel Coronavirus. The number of positive cases has surged to 352,296. The tally of fatalities jumped to 7,092 on Friday.
Sindh MPA and PPP leader Jam Madad Ali passed away at a private hospital in Karachi on Friday due to complications caused by Covid-19. He was 58. Ali tested positive for the virus 15 days ago and was admitted to a private hospital in Karachi for treatment.
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed deep sorrow over Ali’s death, saying that his passing away was a “huge loss for the party and the people of his constituency”. In a statement posted on the PPP’s Twitter account, Bilawal said that the late politician was an “active leader” who will always be remembered.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center, 2,304 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
Till now 153,051 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 108,822 in Punjab, 41,472 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16,274 in Balochistan, 23,122 in Islamabad, 5,139 in Azad Kashmir and 4,416 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have collectively reported 462 coronavirus cases and four deaths.
Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Waqar Ahmad Seth on Thursday passed away after battling with coronavirus.
Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth had contracted the virus a few days back and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Islamabad.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have collectively reported 262 coronavirus cases and two deaths during the last 24 hours. According to a spokesperson of the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, 17 more patients succumbed to the deadly virus in 24 hours, surging the death toll to 2,455 in the province.
In Lahore, smart lockdown has been imposed in New Muslim Town C Block, Iqbal Town Raza Block, Sikandar Block and Umar Block, Garden Town, Cavalry Ground, DHA Phase One A and Phase 6.
In Multan, areas including Naqshband Colony, Gulgasht Colony, Mepco Colony, Khawaja Abad, Multan Kutcheri and Saadat Colony have been put under smart lockdown.
Meanwhile, Fauji Foundation, University New Lalazar, Girls High School Kahuta are also under smart lockdown slapped by the Punjab government.
According to the spokesperson, all medical services, laboratories and pharmacies will remain open 24 hours in the province.
