As the naked aggression from the neighboring country continued, twin attacks from inside Afghanistan in North Waziristan and Bajaur tribal districts Sunday left a soldier of the Pakistan Army martyred while three terrorists were also mowed down by the forces.
According to reports terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire on a Pakistani border post in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan district on the night between Saturday and Sunday that resulted in the Shahadat of a Pakistan Army Jawaan though retaliatory fire inflicted heavy losses on the aggressors.
“In an incident on late Saturday night, terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire on a Pakistani border post in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan district. Own troops responded in a befitting manner causing considerable losses to the terrorists”. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. It added during the exchange of fire, a soldier having fought gallantly embraced martyrdom. The martyred soldier was 31-year-old Naik Abdul Rauf hailing from Rahim Yar Khan district.
In yet another cross border violation three terrorists trying to infiltrate into Pakistan near Pak-Afghan border in Bajaur tribal district were killed by the alert security forces following intense exchange of firing.
“The security forces on Sunday detected the movement of three terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the general area of Batwar, Bajaur district. After exchange of fire, all the three terrorists were killed by the security forces. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists”, the ISPR communiqué said on Sunday.
The ISPR said that Pakistan has consistently been asking the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border. “The interim Afghan government is expected to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan”, it added.
The naked aggression across the border continued unabated in Pakistani tribal belt since long. While the militants from the neighboring Afghanistan have been crossing into Pakistani territory for the last many years and lunching assaults both on the security forces as well as the local people mostly in Bajaur and Mohmand, Waziristans and Dir districts, the Afghan National Army also spare no opportunity to launch assaults on the Pakistani security forces striving to restore the state writ in the region.
Pakistan Army has since ling been urging the Afghan government to establish her writ at Afghan side of the border in order to effectively curb such like happenings yet the successive Afghan governments never paid heed to this serious and continued violation of the territorial integrity of the neighboring Pakistan.
