Twenty-five patients, including serving and retired military personnel and their dependents, who were admitted at the army’s top medical institute the Research & Referral hospital in Delhi, have tested positive for the coronavirus and have been shifted to another hospital.
These 25 people were admitted as non-Covid-19 patients at the R&R hospital’s onco department, which treats cancer, officials said on the condition of anonymity. Twenty-four of them have been shifted to the army’s Base Hospital in Delhi Cantt area. These 24 people tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday after a personnel, who had returned from sick leave, was admitted to the onco department and had tested positive for the virus two days ago. Around 35 to 40 doctors and medical staff at the hospital have been quarantined and are being tested as well.
Till date, 74 soldiers, including 60 serving personnel and the remaining veterans and dependants have been admitted for coronavirus at different hospitals, while 42 others have been treated and discharged, including 28 who are serving. These figures are for the army, air force and navy, and don’t include the fresh 25 cases.
“Twenty-four non-covid in-patients, who include serving and retired military personnel and dependents, admitted in Army Hospital R&R, all from the same department (onco) havé tested positive for the virus and shifted to Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt,” an official said.
