2,000 detained for various crimes in past month in Kabul

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that more than 2,000 people were arrested on charges of various crimes in the last month in Kabul. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Abdul Nafay Takor said that at least 859 crimes happened within this period and that dozens of security incidents were thwarted.

Takor said that serious steps are being taken to counter the drug challenges in the country and that 390 people were arrested on charges of drug dealing.

“In the last month, employees of the Deputy Minister of Counter-Narcotics have carried out 287 operations, in which 390 drug dealers have been detained,” he said.

An MoI spokesperson at a press conference said there has been progress regarding uniforms for the forces of the Interior Ministry, and they will be distributed in Kabul and then other provinces.

“The issue of uniforms is finalized, only their production has yet to completed, which will be finished in the near future. The process of distribution will begin in Kabul and Kandahar, and then proceed to other provinces,” Takor said.
