DERA ISMAIL KHAN – At least 10 policemen were martyred and six others injured in a terrorist attack on a police station in Dera Ismail Khan in the wee hours of Monday.
Police said the police station located in Daraban tehsil of DIK Khan came under attack at 3am, adding that the terrorists hurled grenades from all sides before stating heavy gunfire.
They said the police official retaliated but the militants managed to escape from the scene in the darkness of the night.
All injured policemen have been shifted to the DHQ hospital while security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to trace the assailants.
Funeral prayers of martyred personnel will be offered in the police line, they added.
Last year in December 2023, a targeted attack was launched against security personnel in Daraban.
DEO Awais Babar had confirmed that three personnel martyred, and several others injured. Three cops named Havaldar, Riyasat and Sepoy Zulfiqar were martyred. Police also killed two terrorists during an exchange of fire.
