ISLAMABAD – Intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), weak monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate upper/central parts of Pakistan at lower tropospheric level. A westerly wave prevails over upper parts.
Under these conditions, monsoon rains are predicted in the twin cities and at isolated places in northeast/south Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and northeast Balochistan on Wednesday night.
On Thursday and Friday, more monsoon rains are predicted in the twin cities and at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper/central Punjab, Kashmir and northeast Balochistan with occasional gaps. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Thursday and 36-38°C on Friday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Thursday and 36-38°C on Friday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in eastern/central Punjab, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Sibbi and Dalbandin remained the hottest places in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C. Maximum temperature in Nokkundi was recorded at 46°C, and Jacobabad at 45°C.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 28°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 89 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 27°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 78 per cent.
