Warning to TTP

WHILST Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) declared an end to month long ceasefire and in recent days targeted security personnel accompanying polio workers in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, addressing a news conference on Sunday, said the government policy is very clear about dealing with the parties and groups having terrorist or extremist background in the past.

He categorically stated that those not abiding by the law will face the action. Indeed it should be so without any compromise.

Backed by our arch enemy India, the TTP has remained involved in serious acts of terrorists in the country claiming the lives of both civilians and security personnel.

This is the same outfit whose gunmen killed innocent children in Army Public School. Nonetheless, the government initiated dialogue with some factions of the TTP as Prime Minister Imran Khan who believes in non-military solutions himself pointed out ‘the aim is their disarmament’.

The intent was good but history is a testimony to the fact that previous governments also tried to engage with the TTP which never proved to be successful rather the outfit used the time to regroup. Such terror groups should not be allowed under any circumstances to dictate their terms to the government.

Their acts amount to mutiny and it should be crushed through the use of force. Those willing to surrender voluntarily without any precondition may be embraced but those trying to impose their own agenda and still perpetrating violence and terrorism need to be dealt with iron hands.

Our security forces launched successful operations against the terrorists, ensuring peace and stability in the country. The remnant elements should also be chased and crushed in their dens.

The TTP is operating from the Afghan soil and we must stay engaged with the new Afghan setup, reminding them their commitment that their land should not be used against Pakistan. To undermine Pakistan’s gains against terrorists, India is also sponsoring and financing the terrorist outfits against Pakistan.

Evidence in this regard has been shared by Pakistan with the world community and in fact there are also several international reports on it. The world community must act against this spoiler of peace; otherwise, peace will remain elusive in this part of the world.
