Banks autonomy

People of smaller provinces are struggling for complete implementation of devolution of power under 18th amendment, but private banks have perhaps self assumed “Autonomy from the Regulator to operate according to their own whims and caprices and have started freezing accounts under the garb of “Credit Blocking Clients accounts maintained under Trust with bank” under self determined CDD review (Customer Due Diligence) a law SBP has copied from US Anti-Money Laundering, Combating the financing of Terrorism & Countering proliferation financing and has started exploiting their 30/35 year old clients organization registered under section 42 of Company Laws of Pakistan.

Complaints sent to Bank CEO & SBP Conduct & Consumer Protection appears to have gone in their “cold storage.”

Competitive examination centre

Balochistan is the only is only province of Pakistan that is backward regarding facilities from government.

Balochistan has only one examination centre and candidates from every division must go to Quetta for taking the exam.

Because of lack of competitive examination centre candidates face lot of hazards in order to apply and attending it.

Though KPK population is lower than Balochistan still KPK has more 3 centres while Balochistan has only 1 examination centre. I request government to provide more competitive examination centres in our province.

Sindh needs redemption

The country faced numerous things going from bad to worse since its inception but from a few decades forward it is suffering several dilemmas, particularly Sindh is suffering the most.

Honour killing, tribal butchery, feudalism and much more have eaten the unsophisticated lives of people for no reason.

Even the social crisis, like unemployment, child labour, enormous beggars and on and so forth has come into the wallet of Sindh than other provinces of Pakistan.

News of the gruesome murder of innocent ones is being reported by each passing day, the killing of Noor Makhdoom and torture-murder of Momeena is the crystalline testimony.

And it is in a path that leads to but nightmarish future. Although Sindh has enough natural resources like other provinces of Pakistan, yet it is facing agonies, trials and tribulations.

The corrupt political elements let never province be flourished and kept always in the murky future dimensionally, no matter it is regarding education and few others, though, their own ones get even basic education from abroad.

Cousin marriage

According to estimation, 14-16 million people in Pakistan are suffering from genetic diseases and 1.6 million are found with chromosomal mutations. Genetic diseases are transferred to generations just because of blood relation marriages.

In Pakistan, 75% marriages are consanguine. When they give birth to children, majority of children are found deaf, blind, dumb even some are mentally unstable.

In the country almost 55,000 such patients need urgent treatment. A neurologist and psychiatrist from Germany, Prof Dr Arndt Rolfs visited Lahore where he diagnosed 15,000 patients suffering from genetic diseases.

Today the technology has improved well and the diagnosis costs $5,000 as compared to past five years which cost $15,000.

In Pakistan, mostly doctors postpone diagnosis which leads to metabolic diseases. Meanwhile, the diagnosis prescribed here are 80-90% unimportant and treatment in our country means only burning money. Here we find nothing genetic expertise and diagnostic laboratories in Pakistan.

It is important to gain about genetic diseases through national registry; however, unfortunately there is no national registry available.

It is high time that the authorities concerned must take up the issue sincerely and steps must be taken to establish genetic diseases centre across the country as well as cousin marriages should also be discouraged

Prevention
is better than cure!

In the past month, an alarming increase in the incidence of dengue cases in Lahore was noticed which is a cause for extreme concern and demands immediate attention of the Health Department, Municipal Corporation as well as of the general public.

Dengue is a viral infection caused by a group of viruses, represented by DENV, that are transmitted from an infected to a healthy person when an Aedes mosquito bites. This mosquito serves as a carrier of the disease.

High fever is a discernible symptom and may lead to complications due to lowering of the platelet count.

Any bleeding during the infection would be difficult to control. Severe cases may require blood transfusions.

Since, the carrier mosquito breeds in stagnant waters, close to human habitations, cleanliness of the environment is immensely important and a key precaution for prevention.

Vaccination is not an option and any previous infection does not guarantee immunity as there are numerous viruses that cause it.

Awareness is immensely important to initiate preventive measures and in this light, I hope my letter will be published for the common good of the people.
