UN needs more witnesses
Desperation of India could be gauged from provocative/nonsense act – against UN and Geneva Convention’s rulings – of firing on vehicle of UN Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) on 18 December 2020. They were on way to Chirikot sector of Azad Kashmir to meet victims of Indian firing in village Polos. UNMOGIP has mandate to record, verify and report violations to UNSC. Targeting UN vehicle was highly reckless, madness, foolishness, coercive of terrorist-Indian in hindering Observers’ duties. Since partition, lacs of Kashmiris have been martyred, maimed and injured. This year (alone), India has committed 3003 ceasefire violations, resulting in martyrdom of 27 and injuries to 250 civilians!
Certainly; New Delhi is also under intense pressure due to arrest of Kulbhushan, diplomatic rebuts by Pakistan, internal developments like: strong protest by farmers, mishandling of Covid-19, economic recession, increasing freedom fighters from many States like Punjab. So, reports are indicating that India could resort to a false-flag-operation against Pakistan in a bid to diverting attention of people from internal destruction. O’ Modi, note it – this is not solution nor 1971, instead think about 1965. Do not lit fire for Hindus of India (only) but also for South Asia!
Relationship of terrorist-India with neighbours – Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal always remained full of terrorism and now is increasing rapidly. Terrorism in case of community-wise is worse at present (Muslim, Christian, Sikh and even low caste Hindu) is also in the grip of Modi & Co’s terrorism! Here is a big-question mark on the credibility and efficiency of – UN – if, she, fails now for masking India tightly as is going on in case of corona-virus. Exactly; same action is needed in response to firing on vehicle of UNMOGIP. Because; it does not seem less-than-slap on the UN and need any more witnesses for declaring India as Terrorist State!!

Coronavirus in Easter and Christmas
The discovery of a new virus in Britain has caused a turmoil around the world. As a precaution, night curfew has been imposed in Maharashtra. This is ridiculous on the part of the Uddhav Thackeray government because the virus will not stop from spreading and we have to be without jobs and eat stones and mud for another five years because the CM is not willing to resume local trains for all commuters so that we can go to office and get our salaries in order to feed our families.
Uddhav Thackeray does not need Christian votes; that is why he has now started harassing Christians by not allowing us to have Christmas and New Year Mass even during the daytime. First, he and his handful of policemen demolished actor Kangana Ranaut’s bungalow. Now they are targeting Christians. The virus is only active during Christian festivals like Easter and Christmas. Shame on Uddhav Thackeray. I don’t think his government will last long.

Issues experienced in metropolitan
Karachi, being the largest national revenue collection centre, should enjoy the technological and infrastructural facilities that a metropolitan of its stature deserves; however, a mere walk through the streets of the city proves otherwise. The city is riddled with not just pollution of all forms but also political unrest along with insufficient infrastructural development.
The streets of the city are filled with garbage, polluted air and sub par hygienic conditions which pose a major health hazard for the overwhelming population. All forms of garbage are seen deposited at every corner of every street with little to no intervention by authorities to manage the situation. The sewage lines are often found to be damaged or ill maintained while large portions of taxpayers money seems to be drained for failed attempts at creating a proper waste management system. This further leads to sewer and manholes often overflowing in rainy season wreaking havoc and creating unsanitary conditions that last for weeks.
Furthermore, this behemoth of a city has not had any proper infrastructural development projects completed in years. Projects are often launched and allocated sufficient money by governments, however, it is seldom that any are actually completed let alone completed on time. These are some of the major urgent issues that the people living in the city have to face on a daily basis leading the city into further unrest and chaos. These issues need to be addressed by authorities with emphasis on following through with developmental projects.

Transportation problems
I am writing this letter to express my dissatisfaction related to the issue of transportation in Karachi. I am a student of Karachi University and also a regular user of public transport and take local buses to travel to and from my University and I, along with many others, have to face the transport problem. Transport charges are too high for us – students – who have to travel almost daily.
Being densely populated, the city of Karachi is the only mega city in the world without a mass public transport system. The basic reason for our transport problem is that the government is not adequately expanding the mass transit system which it should. As we know Karachi is also not safe for women, especially at night and when we wait for hours for the buses and even if we get the bus we have to stand and travel all the way. I sincerely request the authorities concerned to please take urgent steps for the solution of this problem

Pollution issue
Through the columns of this newspaper and on behalf of the residents of our locality (F-5, Rizvia Society, Nazimabad Karachi), I wish to draw the attention of relevant authorities towards one of the major and deep-rooted problems of our area which is spreading diseases i.e. non-availability of dustbins around the houses and market places, thus garbage is thrown on roads and open areas which is affecting the locals.
Gutters are overflowing and give out a nasty smell, pools of dirty water. Drains too have not been cleared for quite a long time. It is helping to the growth of mosquitoes. This worse atmosphere may give birth to many dangerous diseases like dengue and cholera. During rainy season, conditions become even worse. In our area the sweepers don’t do their work properly. The sweepers hardly visit the streets and roads and if they appear, they seem absolutely indifferent towards their duties. Therefore, the authorities concerned are requested to look into the matter seriously and take steps to effectively deal with the situation.
