Illegal hunting

Birds hunting by humans create a tough environment for birds to survive. Birds, being a part of Allah’s creatures, deserve a convenient environment to live. Situation in Pakistan is even worse, as fee for license to kill birds is only 2,000 or 2,300, which increases the risk for bird’s life. Excessive bird hunting also results in extinctions of birds. According to Red List of threatened species circulated by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), almost 5,412 bird species have decreased in number during last 30 years worldwide. Government has chosen two specific days, Saturday and Sunday for hunting and no one can hunt more than 10 birds. But sadly, nowadays, illegal hunting is on the rise, causing more problems for birds. Overall, I humbly request everyone to stop illegal hunting in order to save birds’ lives.

Inflation

I am writing to draw attention of higher authorities to prevailing high inflation in our country. Pakistan with ever-rising population is facing significant challenge nowadays regarding very high inflation. Unfortunately authorities have not taken any concrete measures to tackle this issue. Due to high inflation people who are jobless have become incapable of fulfilling their basic requirements.

A major factor is unbridled export of food items that has been further influenced by factors such as fuel price increase. Relevant authorities must take serious action against this alarming problem as soon as possible.

Russia-Ukraine conflict

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has had a profound effect on world. It has caused political unrest and violence in Eastern Europe, especially in Ukraine and led to changes in alliances and security strategies. Economies of both Russia and Ukraine have suffered due to the war. Western sanctions imposed on Russia in response to its actions in Ukraine have resulted in decreased GDP growth and investment. Meanwhile, Ukraine has experienced economic hardships such as infrastructure damage, decreased output and population displacement. The conflict has also brought up energy security issues, as Russia is a major supplier of natural gas to Europe. The concern over possible disruptions in gas supplies has led to diversification of energy sources in European countries.

Furthermore, Russia’s actions in Ukraine have put the principles of territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs of sovereign states in jeopardy. This has caused worries about undermining of these standards and the possibility of other countries taking similar steps in future. In nutshell Russia-Ukraine war has impacted global politics, economics, energy production, and geopolitical dynamics.

Gas shortage

Shortage of gas in Balochistan demands immediate action. People are facing significant difficulties because of this issue as biting cold has gripped all parts of Balochistan, causing severe difficulties to people. It is a fact that entire Balochistan is facing an unannounced laodshedding and low gas pressure. People are witnessing challenges of this pressing issue in Balochistan where issues never get serious attentions to be resolved.

Quetta, the provincial capital, customarily experiences snowfall during the months of December and January. Along with spells of rainfall and snow amid plummeting temperatures, another annual experience for locals this time of the year is reduced gas supply. This winter seems a challenge for residents of Quetta whose home don’t have gas facilities and despite that people are receiving bills with a significant price hike.

Honour killings

Honour killing has no honour, as usually women and teenage girls are made victims by their family members by saying that girls or women have brought dishonour or shame upon family’s name. This terrible act is mostly practiced in Pakistan. According to human rights organisation, around 1000 women were killed each year in the name of honour.

The reasons behind honour killings are love marriages, inter-cast marriages, divorces, disobeying or arguing with elders, choice of clothes, roaming with people, staying away from home till late etc.

Battling pneumonia

Pneumonia is a serious problem for kids under 5. It’s a big reason why many children die in this age group. The Federal Directorate of Immunisation in Pakistan says pneumonia is a major cause of death for these kids. Every year, million of kids get respiratory infections and the main culprit is a pneumonia bacterium. Even though there’s a vaccine, still many children die from pneumonia each year. I urge parents to be aware and take action. Just getting the vaccine isn’t enough, parents must keep their surroundings clean to prevent infections.
