The University of Management and Technology (UMT)’s Women Leaders Awareness Committee under the umbrella of Women Leaders organized it first-ever awareness session titled: “Inheritance Laws in Islam and Their Implementation in Pakistan.”
Objective of the seminar was to create awareness among the women about their Islamic legal rights of inheritance and dissemination information regarding law of inheritance in Islam and its implementation in Pakistan.
Justice (r) Nasira Javed Iqbal was the guest speaker on the occasion. Justice (r) Nasira Iqbal said that Islam and the country constitution contain all the information related to inheritance.
She elaborated her point by saying that women’s share in inheritance is meant to make them financially viable so that they make their livelihood to meet any eventuality.
It is essential for them not only to generate income but also to sustain herself and her children.
The seminar was attended by Rector UMT Dr Muhammad Aslam, Chairman Women Leaders at UMT Committee Prof Dr Rukhsana Kaleem, Dean Chemistry Prof Dr Ayesha Mohiuddin, Dean Education Department Dr Mumtaz Akhtar and other teachers and students.
Prof Dr Rukhsana Kalim and Prof Dr Aysha Mohiuddin played leading roles in the conduct of the seminar. Dr Hasan Murad School of Management (HSM) organized this session to shed light on the legal inheriting rights of women.
