WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump has indicated that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East are nearing an end, emphasizing that America will complete its mission regardless of whether Tehran comes to the negotiating table.
Speaking to the media, Trump claimed that Iran has suffered significant setbacks, setting the country “20 years back,” and said the United States could withdraw from the conflict even without a formal deal if it is satisfied that the Iranian nuclear threat has been neutralized.
He added that major changes have taken place within Iran, describing the emergence of a “less extreme” group, and stressed that Washington’s goal has never been regime change but solely the elimination of the nuclear threat.
Trump suggested that the conflict could be fully resolved within two to three weeks. He noted that while a deal with Iran would be acceptable, the US does not depend on one, asserting that Iran needs a deal more than America does.
On domestic matters, the President criticized the Democratic Party for previously loosening border controls, which he said allowed criminals easier access to the US. He claimed that crime in Washington, D.C., has dropped by 98%, making it the nation’s safest city.
Additionally, Trump signed an executive order to tighten and secure mail-in voting procedures and announced unprecedented security upgrades at the White House, including bulletproof glass, a drone-proof roof, and bomb shelters. He stressed that the US has acted preemptively to prevent Iran from using nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz is being protected to ensure global oil supplies remain accessible.
Iran Says Read to End Conflict if Strong Guarantees are Provided
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran is prepared to end its conflict with Israel and the United States if strong guarantees are provided that future attacks will be avoided. Speaking to European Council President Antonio Costa via telephone, Pezeshkian emphasized that the only solution to normalize the situation created by U.S. and Israeli actions is for the aggressors to halt their hostile activities.
Pezeshkian highlighted that Iran has never initiated the conflict but would take action against US bases in neighboring countries if necessary. He criticized neighboring countries for failing to prevent their territories from being used against Iran and also called on the European Union to adopt a constructive, law-based approach rather than enabling U.S. and Israeli aggression.
