KARACHI – The city administration in southern port city of Karachi has notified new price of milk as per litre rate has been increased by Rs20 per litre.
Reports said an official notification has been issued in this regard. With the hike, the new retail price of milk has been set at Rs240 per liter.
The notification also outlines revised rates for different sectors: dairy farmers will now receive Rs 215 per liter, while wholesalers will pay Rs 225 per liter.
Authorities said the adjustment aims to ensure fair compensation for producers while maintaining supply to the market. Consumers in Karachi will notice the new prices effective immediately.
Meanwhile, weekly SPI inflation in Pakistan increased by 0.97% percent for the week ended on March 26, 2026.
Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) is computed on weekly basis to assess the price movement of essential commodities at shorter interval of time so as to review the price situation in the country. SPI comprises of 51 essential items collected from 50 markets in 17 cities of the country.
Major increase was observed in the prices of Onions (18.10%), Tomatoes (11.38%), LPG (10.05%), Chicken (8.70%), Potatoes (8.11%), Electricity Charges for Q1 (6.11%), Eggs (3.54%), Garlic (3.23%), Mutton (2.55%), Beef (1.52%), Georgette (0.38%) and Firewood (0.34%).
On the other hand, decrease is observed in the prices of Bananas (4.50%), Wheat Flour (1.00%), Sugar (0.29%), Gur (0.20%) and Pulse Moong & Rice IRRI-6/9 (0.17%) each.
During the week, out of 51 items, prices of 23 (45.10%) items increased, 06 (11.76%) items decreased and 22 (43.14%) items remained stable.
The year on year trend depicts increase of 8.24%.
