Continuing its suppressive moves against freedom-loving parties in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian government tribunal has upheld the ban on Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) led by incarcerated senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah. According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs in October 2023 had declared Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party as ‘unlawful association’ under the draconian Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for playing an important role in the ongoing freedom movement in IIOJK.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah has been in jail since July 2017 when he was arrested by the Indian Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the manner of kidnapping from Srinagar and taken to the infamous Tihar Jail in India in a fake case which the Indian agency had registered in 2007.—KMS
