Toshakhana, Cipher case: IHC to hear Imran, Bushra and Qureshi’s pleas against sentences

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed hearing of the appeals moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood challenging sentences in the cipher case.

The appeals of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi have also been fixed against verdict in Un-Islamic Nikah case.

The IHC constituted a special bench for the appeals of the PTI founders.

The Registrar of the IHC set February 26th for the hearings of the appeals.

A IHC special bench comprising Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb would hear the appeals of the PTI founder, Bushra Bibi and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The pleas seeking suspension of the sentences and release on bail would also heard alongside.

On other hand, the plea moved by Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhary against contempt case of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also been fixed for hearing.

A LHC three-member bench headed by Justice Aalia Neelum would take up the case on February 26.

Before the general elections,  the ECP conducted hearing of the cases against Imran Khan and Fawad Chauhdhary. ECP Sindh Member Nisar Durrani had presided over the proceedings.

Shoaib Shaheen and Faisal Chaudhary had represented both Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhary before the ECP.

Shoaib Shaheen had submitted that he appeared before the ECP in compliance of its order and requested it to adjourn the proceedings. The commission had accepted his plea and put off hearing till after the general election.
