Steps for reducing mother morality rate in Balochistan urged

Forum for Dignity Initiatives and Institute of Development Studies Pakistan on Monday expressing concern over the poor health facilities and high Mother Mortality Rate in Balochistan called for taking immediate steps in rural areas of the province.

“By providing government level employment opportunities to the trained community health workers of IDSP, alarming MMR in Balochistan, could be decreased to a great extent,”. These views were expressed during a meeting held between the head of FDI Uzma Yaqoob and IDSP chief Dr. Quratulain Bakhtiari here in Quetta. The heads of the two non- governmental organizations expressed deep concern over the general health situation in the province.

They also urged the need to make effective measures to promote and improve the scope of maternal and child medical facilities in health centers in rural areas including tertiary care hospitals. Uzma Yaqoob, FDI chief emphasized for evolving a concerted strategy to make the multi-faceted initiatives of the non-governmental organizations.
