In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the residents of Shivpora area of Srinagar held a protest demonstration against Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government’s move to promote consumption of liquor in the Muslim majority territory.

The residents of the Shivpora took to the streets and the protested against the opening of a liquor shop near a school in locality. They demanded the closure of the liquor shop at the earliest.

One of the protesters who identified himself as Raviji Razdan told the media that setting up a liquor shop close to a school will badly impact the students. “The new liquor shop has been set up near a school. Please tell me, how students will learn when there is a liquor shop on one side and a cinema on the other,” he said.

Razdan said there are many schools in the locality. “Law itself prohibits anybody from setting up a liquor shop close to a school, religious place or in a residential area. Our mothers and sisters won’t feel secure in presence of this liquor shop,” he added.

One of the protesters termed the opening of a wine shop, close to a school, as “preposterous and mischievous”.

It is to mention here that the Modi regime after repealing the special status of IIOJK on August 05, 2019 is forcefully implementing its anti-Muslim agenda in the territory. Open sale of alcohol in the occupied territory is part of its nefarious agenda as consumption of liquor is prohibited in Islam.—KMS
