A teenage son of a district and sessions judge was allegedly killed by firing of his friend at a bungalow in Defence Housing Authority (DHA).Police said the incident took place in DHA Phase V within the jurisdiction of the Darakshan police station. The teenager was injured as a result of the firing and first taken to a private hospital. He was later moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced him dead. The deceased was identified as 17-year-old Ali Kerio, son of Javed Kerio.

Police said his father was a District South sessions judge while the suspect’s father was a retired senior superintendent of police.Police have registered an FIR No 69/24 under the sections 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s cousin Shahbaz Alam, a lawyer by profession, against the suspect, Daniyal Nazeer, son of Nazeer Mir Bahar.

The complainant stated that on Thursday night, he was at his uncle’s house at the Judges Apartments in Clifton where a person, Ali Qasim, came and informed him that Ali Kerio who had gone to the house of Daniyal along with him in DHA had been shot by Daniyal after an exchange of bitter words.“After shooting, Daniyal and his brother Ahmar put Ali Kerio into my car and took him to the South City Hospital where Ali was taken to Jinnah Hospital by an ambulance, during which he succumbed to his injuries,” the complainant quoted Qasim as saying. The complainant further stated that upon receiving the information, he reached the Jinnah hospital and saw the body of his cousin in the emergency.

“My claim is that Daniyal Nazeer Mir Bahar shot and killed my cousin Ali Kerio,” reads the FIR.The police have arrested a suspect and initiated further investigations. When contacted, District South police chief SSP Sajid Sadduzai stated that investigations were in a preliminary stage, and nothing could be said definitively right now.

He mentioned that so far police had found no details of the dispute between the two friends. The officer said it seemed that these individuals were engaged in casual activities and something bitter happened then.

“Currently, we are investigating the case and trying to determine the ownership of the weapon,” the officer said. “The suspect’s father, who is a retired SSP, apparently owns the weapon,” he added.
