As the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak is only a few days away, water woes in the Sector G-13 have become severe and the citizens are left on the mercy of the water mafia.
While talking to Pakistan Observer, the residents of G-13 said the situation is getting worse on a daily basis and unless their sector is supplied water by the dam its scarcity will remain a continuous and burning issue.
The Sector G-13 is the newly developed sector that has seen development and expansion into four sub-sectors in a matter of days.
The CDA had arranged three water tube wells for water supply to the G-13 but in view of the rising population they are now not sufficient to meet their needs. and mafia influence the supply system became faulty and finally dysfunctional.
Unless we get a regular supply of water from dam, water scarcity will remain a burning sore, said Aurangzeb Afroz a resident of the sector.
Currently, the residents are using the CDA app for supply of water through its tankers but that too is a constant pain in the neck and the citizens have to wait to get water.
The private tanker mafia taking full advantage of the situation is charging Rs3,500 per a tube well.
Afroz was of the view that it was the responsibility of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) responsibility to provide water to the residents.
They made a lot of efforts, no doubt, but water supply from a dam is still a dream.
Another resident Sheikh Ahmed Din said through CDA water supply pipe line is coming from Khanpur Dam, across the D-12 and F-13 sectors but there was some hurdle (non-possession of land) by local people that made it impossible to pass it further to G-13.
This land issue is not resolved and the residents of D-12 and F-12 are going for litigation.
