ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif revealed that negotiations between Pakistan and India could be held in Saudi Arabia or United Arab Emirates (UAE), with US being key facilitator during the negotiations, while Pakistan’s National Security Advisor and DG ISI will represent the country.

Weeks after major escalations between arch-enemies, Pakistani PM reaffirmed country’s position that it never requested a ceasefire during the recent conflict, asserting that had such a request been made, the international community would have informed Pakistan. He also highlighted that the return of troops to pre-conflict positions has been agreed upon but without a fixed timeline.

Sharif confirmed reports that Israeli personnel were present in India and took part in the conflict. Despite this, he asserted that Pakistan emerged victorious, attributing success to the nation’s own defense capabilities and the leadership of the Army Chief.

“In response to India’s aggression, Pakistan destroyed six Indian aircraft and downed drones, marking masterstroke in defense,” the Prime Minister said. He further explained that Pakistan’s domestic missile “Fatah” was instrumental in counter-attacks, and Pakistani forces also disabled India’s advanced S-400 missile system.

He credited Chinese technology for strengthening Pakistan’s defense and praised support received from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Azerbaijan, and China during the conflict. He also announced the promotion of General Asim Munir to Field Marshal, with a light-hearted comment referring to himself as a “Political Field Marshal.”

Sharif stressed the need for talks to include key issues such as Kashmir, water sharing, trade, and terrorism, underlining Pakistan’s commitment to peace and economic prosperity in the region.

He further condemned India’s post-ceasefire missile strike on Bhalwari Airbase, vowing a strong response. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination and called for improved provincial efforts in counter-terrorism, highlighting shortcomings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s administration.
