The unidentified and armed robbers snatched cash, gold and other valuables worth thousands of rupees in four separate hits during last 24 hours and injured a man for offering resistance.
The police on Monday told further that in the first incident, two motor cycle riding robbers stopped two motor cycle riding friends, Muneeb and Faizan at gun point near Bank Stop, in the limits of the Muradpur police station, and after looting two mobile phones and Rs 2000 from them, shot and injured Muneeb for offering resistance and escaped. In second hit, Abdul Rauf and his wife were on their way on a motor cycle when three motor cycle riding robbers stopped them near Ismaelabad, in the limits of the Badiana police station, and deprived them of gold ornaments worth Rs 300000 and Rs 35000 in cash and escaped.
Meanwhile a case was registered against a man for throwing acid on his wife. The police on Monday told further that one Jahangir on Saturday had thrown acid on his wife, Fauzia Bibi in their residence at Shahabpura road, in the limits of the Hajipura police station, after some domestic quarrel and then escaped. The woman, a mother of four, luckily remained safe as the acid fell on her dress. It is told that the accused had been a drug addict who married Fauzia 16 years ago, and often used to beat her up over minor issues. It is told also that after a routine quarrel with his wife, the accused had tried to drug his children and then attacked his wife for trying to stop him. The police have started efforts to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile Four persons were arrested red handed while gambling on the game of ‘ludo’. The police told further that on Sunday night, on a tip of an empty plot was raided in village Karamabad, in the limits of the Sambrial police station, where four persons namely, Aslam, Majid, Ilyas and Riaz were busy in gambling on ‘ludo’.
