KARACHI – Peshawar Zalmi beat Karachi Kings by two runs in the 29th Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 match at National Cricket Stadium in Karachi on Monday.
Chasing a 148-run target for victory, Tim Seifert (41) and James Vince (21) provided a solid foundation with a 61-run opening partnership. Zalmi comes back strongly by taking three wickets with the addition of just seven runs. Irfan Khan (39) and veteran Shoaib Malik (22) put the chase back on track with a 49-run partnership. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, skipper Babar Azam (51) and Saim Ayub (19) provided a steady start with a 55-run opening partnership. After that, Zalmi kept losing wickets at crucial stages, slowing the run rate. Cameo of Rovman Powell (30) helped Zalmi reach 147/6 in the allotted 20 overs. Daniel Sams, Arafat Minhas, Hasan Ali and Zahid Mahmood bagged one wicket each while Babar Azam and Rovman Powell were run out.
