PESHAWAR – Heatwaves will continue to prevail in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday and the next three days with up to 07°C above normal temperatures.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure in the upper atmosphere prevails over the country, which will continue to persist during the next four days. A shallow westerly wave also prevails over Kashmir and the adjoining hilly areas.
Under these conditions, heatwaves will continue to prevail in Peshawar and most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday and the next three days. However, isolated rains and gusty winds are expected in the upper districts during the period.
Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C above normal levels in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa till June 12.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 43°C and 45°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in Peshawar and most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.
Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu remained the hottest places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C.
In Peshawar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 72 per cent.
