Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Altaf Shakoor, voiced concerns on Sunday over the federal government’s warnings to students regarding agitations in educational institutions. Shakoor firmly opposed any restrictions on student politics, calling instead for the revival of student unions in all schools and universities. He stressed that his party supports measures against those inciting students, but strongly objects to using such actions as a pretext for further suppressing student political activities.

Shakoor highlighted that student unions are critical for nurturing future political leaders and argued that the ban on these unions during the Zia regime only paved the way for elite dominance in politics. Shakoor expressed concern over outdated curricula in schools and colleges, which he said fail to prepare graduates for the job market.

He called for educational reform focusing on vocational training, entrepreneurship, and technical skills over traditional degree programs. He urged the government to provide more avenues for students to engage in constructive political activities and insisted that institutions failing to hold regular student union elections should not be recognized.
