ISLAMABAD – Pakistani skies are putting on breathtaking show on Wednesday as the biggest supermoon of the year dazzles masses across the country. Social media users are being treated to rare celestial spectacle, with the moon appearing dramatically larger and brighter than usual.

SUPARCO said this is the second of three supermoons in 2025. The moon, currently just 221,817 miles away from Earth, looks nearly 10% bigger and 16% more radiant than a regular full moon.

Astronomers are calling this a once-in-a-year visual treat. “It’s not every day that you get to see the moon this close and this bright,” said a SUPARCO spokesperson.

The excitement isn’t over yet as skywatchers can look forward to the final supermoon of the year in December, the Beaver Supermoon, expected to be even more spectacular.

Tonight, Pakistanis are urged to step outside, look up, and witness this magical lunar event lighting up the night sky.
