Pakistan has reported two more cases of the new Covid-19 variant that emerged in the United Kingdom (UK), confirmed the National Command and Control Center (NCOC).
According to NCOC, two cases of new variant have been reported in people who had a travel history of UK.
Earlier, the Sindh Health Department had tested 12 people returning from UK, out of which six tested positive for coronavirus.
The further genotyping revealed that out of six, three patients were carrying new Covid-19 variant.
Several states including nearly all 27 European Union (EU) states, Canada and Japan have reported cases of the more contagious variant of Covid-19 first identified in United Kingdom (UK).
Pakistan has reported 39 coronavirus deaths and 1,895 new positive cases in one day. According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), around 2,895 cases of coronavirus were reported while 39 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 10,350. The total number of confirmed cases reached to 488,529. As many as 442,457 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,242 critical cases. Punjab After sharp increase in the cases, the number of patients swelled to 140,714 in the province. The province reported 4,124 coronavirus causalities.
