LAHORE – Pakistan Railways offers various fare concessions for a range of passengers to make the public transportation more accessible.
It aims to make rail travel more affordable for a diverse group of individuals, including railway employees, students, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and others.
Under the concession policy, railway officers and officials can avail of a 50% discount on fares for Duty Passes, Privilege Passes, and PTOs.
Students, including foreign students, will also receive a 50% reduction on their fares. Blind persons will be eligible for a 50% concession, while blind students will receive a 65% discount on fares.
Additionally, attendants or guides accompanying persons with disabilities will be given a 50% fare concession.
Tourists will benefit from a 25% discount, and members of Scouts and Girl Guides will also be eligible for a 50% fare reduction.
Journalists will receive an 80% concession on fares, while the families of journalists can avail of a 50% discount. Senior citizens, aged 65 to below 75, will be entitled to a 25% concession, with a 50% discount available in Economy Class for those aged 75 and above.
Members of the Chartered Institute of Transport will receive a full 100% concession in Economy Class, while passengers from Pakistan Center will be entitled to a 50% fare reduction.
Additionally, passengers using the Monthly Season Ticket will be charged 30 single journey fares plus a 10% security deposit, while students can purchase a Monthly Student Ticket for 15 single journey fares, valid for travel up to 160 kilometers.
Suburban ticket holders will also receive a 15-single journey fare concession, with the condition that their destination does not exceed a 2-hour train running time.
