According to Pakistani security sources, the detainee was among individuals allegedly attempting to cross the frontier with support from Afghan Taliban positions, triggering an armed confrontation that saw Pakistani forces unleash heavy retaliatory fire.

Initial security reports identified the arrested Afghan national as Qari Waqas, also referred to as Qudus or Qaddous, son of Alam Gul and a resident of Afghanistan’s Spin Ghar region. Authorities reportedly suspect that he crossed into Pakistani territory intending to join a militant figure identified as Khawaji Kazim.

Security personnel also claimed to have recovered an automatic weapon and ammunition from his possession. Some reports described the firearm as a submachine gun, while others identified it as an AK-47.

The arrest reportedly took place near Alam Sher village in the Agra area of Upper Kurram. Certain security-focused accounts placed the detention at approximately 2:40 p.m., although these details have not been officially verified.

The reported arrest came amid intense fighting along the Shalozan frontier after suspected militants linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), designated Fitna al-Khawarij by Pakistani authorities, allegedly attempted to enter Pakistan.

Pakistani security sources accused Afghan Taliban personnel of facilitating the infiltration attempt by providing covering fire from positions across the border.

Pakistani troops reportedly thwarted the attempted crossing and responded with heavy weapons, allegedly inflicting significant damage on multiple Afghan Taliban posts. Security accounts also claimed casualties across the border, although no independently verified figures were available.
