KARACHI – National Logistics Cell (NLC) and DP World have successfully shipped over one thousand containers between Pakistan and Bangladesh since launching first-ever direct shipping route between the two Asian nation in October.

This key initiative aims to enhance trade and regional connectivity in South Asia, marking a major milestone in fostering economic cooperation across the region. Direct container service between Karachi and Jebel Ali is set to begin with the first NLC vessel, capable of carrying 1,100 TEUs, scheduled for departure on January 13, 2025.

A second vessel of similar capacity will be introduced by the end of January, further boosting the capacity and efficiency of the route. In addition, a dedicated edible oil vessel is slated for launch in February 2025, expanding the scope of this ambitious partnership.

This collaboration is more than just a logistics operation as it signifies the start of a new era in regional trade. By strengthening economic ties and facilitating smoother movement of goods, the joint venture between NLC and DP World is expected to drive shared prosperity, accelerate progress, and position South Asia as a more integrated and competitive economic hub.

As the direct shipping route continues to evolve, the partnership between NLC and DP World is poised to play a key role in reshaping trade dynamics, making it easier for businesses in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and beyond to access global markets more efficiently.
