LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 55 illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulter premises in different housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas on Thursday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 29 buildings in Gulberg and Faisal Town, and 26 in Subzazar Housing Scheme and on Wahdat Road during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Pak Vision College, Reward School, Step Islamic School, Kanz-ul-Iman Beacon School, English Grammar School, Shifa Medical Centre, salon, food outlets, offices, workshops, and other businesses.
Meanwhile, LDA teams partially demolished 10 illegal commercial buildings during operations in Allama Iqbal Town, Subzazar Housing Scheme, Mustafa Town and on Multan Road. The demolished buildings include a workshop, a marble factory, a salon, and shops.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the assistance of the Police and heavy machinery.
According to the LDA spokesperson, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before carrying out the operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters in LDA-controlled areas and housing schemes.
