BAKU – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif fired fresh salvo at Indian government at Turkey-Pakistan-Azerbaijan trilateral conference, warning that attempts by India to block Pakistan’s water supply will never succeed.

Sharif termed water “lifeline for Pakistan’s 240 million people”, stressing its critical importance for the country’s survival and development. Speaking at the conference held in Azerbaijan’s city of Lachin, the premier said, “India wants to stop Pakistan’s water, but that will never happen.”

The premier said water is not just a resource but a vital necessity for 242 millions of Pakistanis. He also condemned India’s aggressive stance, particularly in light of the ongoing Kashmir dispute. Modi’s government used incidents like Pulwama attack as pretext for aggression, but Pakistan remains committed to peaceful solutions and offered full cooperation in investigations, which India failed to reciprocate.

He further reiterated Islamabad’s demand for resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance with U.N Security Council resolutions, emphasizing the need for peace in the region.

Expressing gratitude to Ankara and Baku, PM Sharif acknowledged strong friendship and support of these nations in Pakistan’s regional and international efforts.

The trilateral conference, attended by leaders from Turkey and Azerbaijan, underscored the strategic partnership among the three countries, with water security emerging as a crucial topic amid the complex geopolitical challenges in South Asia.
