LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 108 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in different housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas on Monday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 42 buildings in Faisal Town, Gulberg and New Garden Town, and 66 in Shadman, Shah Jamal, New Muslim Town, Subzazar Housing Scheme and on Wahdat Road and Canal Bank Road during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include The Candour School, Reward School, Alma Mater School, Kunz-ul-Iman School, English Grammar School, Lahore Literati, Pak Hospital, Dental Arts, Pakistan Flourmills Association office, grocery stores, salons, restaurants, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the assistance of the Police.
According to the LDA spokesperson, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
