The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle on Sunday apprehended an accused, Muhammad Amin, involved in online fraud and cheating. Acting on a tip-off, the FIA conducted a raid and arrested Amin from Rawalpindi.
The accused allegedly contacted unsuspecting citizens by impersonating a close relative and concocted stories about being in an accidental situation. He then swindled Rs250,000 from his victims. “The accused used to trap innocent people daily through messages,” an FIA spokesperson revealed. “Mobile phones and other evidence were recovered from his possession during the raid.”
Following his arrest, the FIA has initiated an investigation into Amin’s fraudulent activities. The spokesperson warned the public to be wary of such online scams and urged them to verify the identity of anyone requesting money before transferring any funds.
