The Sindh Young Nurses Association staged a protest on Tuesday outside the press club against “forced postings”. They said they haven’t been given any risk allowances or health professional allowances. These nurses boycotted their duties at their respective medical facilities. They want the change in postings of three nurses who were transferred after being beaten at the Lyari General Hospital a few days back. Nurses say the decision of posting them elsewhere instead of taking the attackers to task is unjust. They say more nurses are going to join them to extend the sit-in if their demands are not met on time. The protesting nurses chanted slogans against provincial government authorities concerned and vowed that protest demonstration would be continued until acceptance of their demand. Meanwhile, YNA (Sindh) General Secretary Abdul Wahid has said nurses are considered to be the backbone of the health system, but high ups of Sindh Health Department have ignored the nursing profession every time. He said JNAC has presented justified demands. He said, “All other three provincial governments are upgrading nursing profession and providing them with incentives whereas KP CM has approved 5-tier formula for nurses recently.”
