I would like to draw the attention of our civic authorities to the
unbearable noise pollution experienced by the residents of Akhtar Colony in Karachi. However, resident of the areas are often disturbed by loud speakers blaring all the time from various marriage halls. These halls are busy not only during the marriage season, but also on most other occasions when different meetings are held there the amplified noise distresses people of the area, particularly school children, patients and the elderly, who cannot have a sound sleep at night. We have lodged several complaints with the authorities but in vain. I would strongly suggest that, use of loud speaker at marriage hall, theatres etc be regulated at the earliest so that resident of the locality get relief. Students as well others would be thankful to the authorities concerned for taking the necessary steps.
