NPC organizes dialogue marking 24th anniversary of nuclear tests

Zubair Qureshi

Pakistan is a nuclear state and its security and integrity are guaranteed in its nuclear capability. The nation salutes all those scientists, engineers, political leaders and workers who in one way or the other contributed to Pakistan’s becoming a nuclear state,

These views were expressed by speakers at a roundtable dialogue organized by the Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) at the Aiwan-e-Quaid Friday to remember and celebrate 24th anniversary of Pakistan’s nuclear tests.

The participants paid special tributes and eulogized the services of the Father and Founder of Pakistan’s nuclear programme Dr AQ Khan, Pakistan’s Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and armed forces of Pakistan for their contribution and role in making the defence of Pakistan impregnable.

NPC Chairman Mian Muhammad Javed presided over the dialogue that was attended and participated by NPC Executive Committee members, senior citizens, intellectuals and experts.

They also mentioned Dr AQ Khan’s close association with Founder Chairman of the NPC late Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer Zahid Malik who stood by Dr Khan like a solid rock and defended and highlighted his achievements through his books, newspaper and publications.

Mian Javed said Pakistan could not and will not compromise on its security and because of its nuclear shield, the enemy cannot dare turn hostile to the country.

Mian Javed asserted that India despite its hegemonic designs and provocations never dared to attack Pakistan since 1974.

Senior Vice Chairman of NPC ex-Chairman FBR Abdullah Yousaf speaking on the occasion termed May 28 second most important day after August 14 in the history of the country.

On Aug 14 we achieved independence whole on May 28, we ensured it by having nuclear capability, he said.

Executive Secretary of NPC Gauhar Zahid Malik said Pakistani nation would remain indebted to Dr AQ Khan for his contributions as well as sacrifices for the defence of Pakistan.

Member NPC executive committee and former Secretary Election Commission Kanwar Dilshad also paid rich tributes to Dr AQ Khan and his team of dedicated scientists for giving Pakistan nuclear capability. It is because of our nuclear capability that India for all its bias and hegemonic designs cannot challenge Pakistan militarily.
