“Government of Pakistan is responding well to health and livelihood of the people during Covid-19, educational needs cannot be forgotten and these have an equally detrimental impact if left unaddressed. The ‘pile-on effect’ of the corona-virus is that, Covid-19 pandemic, is going to have long term implications — especially for the most vulnerable students if interruptions to education continues. The real risk of regression (dropout) is for the children whose basic, foundational learning (reading, math, languages, etc.) was not strong to begin with. Educational situation of the children in remote areas is already vulnerable.” This was observed by Director General Hassan Baig while addressing to all the director operations during Operational Review meeting held on zoom.
DG NCHD Hassan Baig while elaborating the statistics of UNESCO said that, 1.5 billion (87%) students in the world are unable to attend educational institutions due to closure of institutions.
