ISLAMABAD – An accountability court on Friday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in the £190 million reference case.

Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the accountability court issued the warrants due to her consistent absence from eight consecutive hearings.

Bushra Bibi’s lawyer once again submitted a request for exemption from appearance on medical grounds.

However, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor raised objections, pointing out discrepancies in the medical report, which was from Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar but verified in Islamabad.

The prosecutor also noted that the accused had not submitted their statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The court directed NAB to arrest Bushra Bibi and present her on November 26 while also issuing a show-cause notice to her guarantor.

Yesterday, in a video message to PTI workers, Bushra Bibi alleged that Saudi Arabia was involved in removal of Imran Khan from the office. She alleged that Saudis contacted the then Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and raised matter of Imran Khan with him. Her allegations made headlines and drew huge criticism from the government.

Bushra Bibi also urged the PTI workers to come out and join November 24 protests.
