MURREE – Snowfall in the Queen of Hills, Murree, and Galliyat has ceased while in Grace Valley, Azad Kashmir, the extreme cold has caused Neelum River to freeze.
The Meteorological Department said that sunlight has emerged in Murree following end of snowfall but the cold winds persist. The tourists are flocking to enjoy Murree’s chilly weather and all the roads and highways in the area are open.
The temperature in Murree over the past 24 hours was recorded at 1°C.
Meanwhile, the cold weather is expected in most parts of the country, with severe cold in mountainous regions. The light fog is anticipated in some areas of Islamabad, the Potohar region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the early morning hours.
The MET office also said that the fog might blanket the plains of Punjab, Upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Due to the fog, the motorway from Kot Momin to Lilla Interchange has been closed for heavy vehicles.
Moreover, the sections of the Motorways including M2 from Thokar Niaz Baig to Babu Sabu, M3 from Samundri to Darkhana and M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan are closed due to dense fog.
