The MuttahidaQaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), a key coalition partner in the federal government, has urged the federal government to devise a comprehensive, long-term strategic plan to revitalize Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and economic powerhouse. During a meeting with Federal Minister for Planning and Development AshanIqbal, the MQM-P delegation presented a catalogue of grievances regarding the city’s deficient civic amenities.

Highlighting the acute water shortage in Karachi, the delegation emphasized the urgent need for the completion of major infrastructure projects like K-IV, aimed at providing 650 million gallons of water daily to the metropolis. Led by Senior Deputy Convener Dr. FarooqSattar and including prominent members such as Syed Mustafa Kamal and Syed AminulHaq, the MQM-P delegation underscored Karachi’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s economy and stressed the necessity for improved transportation facilities. In addition to K-IV, the delegation pressed for the expeditious completion of other development initiatives such as the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) and the Karachi Circular Railway, vital for enhancing the city’s infrastructure and connectivity. Acknowledging Karachi’s economic significance, Federal Minister AshanIqbal affirmed the MQM-P’s stance, indicating a shared commitment towards addressing the city’s developmental needs.
