The Bharatiya Janata Party led Indian government is using its military and other forces’ personnel deployed in occupied Jammu and Kashmir to promote Hindutva RSS ideology and to expand its settler-colonial project in the terrttory.
A report released by Kashmir Media Service said India has been treating Kashmir as its colony right from 27 October 1947 when it forcibly landed its troops in Srinagar and occupied the territory against the will of the Kashmiri people. It said that colonization of IIOJK by military policies has been a long-pending dream of RSS and BJP.
It said India, by using its more than one million military and paramilitary troops, has converted the disputed territory into a colony of the stone-age when the people used to be treated as slaves without having the fundamental rights.
“Indian armed forces are fast getting indoctrinated with the Hindutva ideology and interfering in local and political issues in IIOJK as Modi regime has been encouraging military officials to subscribe to ideas and policies of RSS”, the report added.
The report referred to a seminar which the Indian army had to cancel after a backlash from the IIOJK political parties. The seminar, which the Indian army had planned to hold at the University of Kasmir, was aimed to promote its Hindutva ideology in the guise of raising awareness about the Uniform Civil Code. Interestingly, the report said, the BJP leaders without an iota of shame refer to the Indian armed forces as “Modi ki Sena (Modi’s Army)”.
The Modi regime is using Indian business companies & tycoons to expand colonization of Kashmir, the report said, adding, “The separate pandit and Indian forces colonies, illegal confiscations, forced evictions, demolition of properties are part of India’s systematic settler colonial project in IIOJK”.
“India is seeking to turn Muslim majority J&K into a Hindu territory by settling non-local Hindus in the territory. It is expanding its settler-colonial project by grabbing more & more land and properties and denying jobs to the Kashmiris”, the report said.
The report said the BJP regime is creating colonial settlements in occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the pattern of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land and it removed the barrier to colonize Kashmir by revoking Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which granted special status to occupied Kashmir.
The report maintained that India was dismissing Kashmiri govt employees as part of its settler colonialism policy to strangulate Kashmiris economically. India is freely violating the international law in Jammu and Kashmir, which is a disputed territory recognized by the United Nations Security Council and the world community, it deplored.—KMS
