Lionel Messi is quickly putting a disappointing first campaign with PSG behind him as he scored five goals to help Argentina rout Estonia in a friendly in Spain.
The win also extended the South American side’s unbeaten run to 33 games.
Fresh off his man-of-the-match performance in the Finalissima against Italy, Messi scored twice in the first half followed by a second-half hattrick to take his international goals tally to 86 which moves him 4th on the all-time list.
It is the first time Messi has scored five goals in a game for the international side having already netted five for Barcelona against Leverkusen in the Champions League.
Argentina got on the board in the eight-minute through a penalty kick as Matvei Igonen was left rooted to the spot as Messi buried the strike to his right.
The forward added his second in the 45th minute, taking a perfect pass from Papu Gomez and hammering a shot past the goalkeeper.
A slick team move by Argentina opened Estonia up in the 47th minute with Messi deftly directing the ball into the net to complete his hat-trick.
He would go on to add two more goals in the 71st and 76th minute to move past Ferenc Puskas in the all-time goalscoring charts in international football.
He trails Cristiano Ronaldo, Ali Daei of Iran, and Mokhtar Dahari of Malaysia.
