Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, inaugurated a new sewerage pumping station in Shireen Jinnah Colony, aimed at improving the drainage system and addressing long-standing issues in the area. During his visit, Mayor Wahab emphasized that the restoration of the pumping station would significantly enhance the drainage process, resolving many of the area’s sewerage-related problems and providing relief to local residents.

He described the restoration and repair of the station as a long-awaited demand of the community. “This is a major step in improving the city’s water and sewerage systems. We have also activated the Jamila Pumping Station in the Old City area. The process of resolving water and sewerage issues in the city will continue,” said Barrister Wahab.

He also shared plans to convert the vacant land of the pumping station into a park and announced the activation of another pumping station in Lyari. Mayor assured that the resources of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Water Corporation would be utilized more efficiently. He reiterated the commitment to bringing clean water to Karachi, stating, “Our promise was that when Bilawal comes, he will bring employment and water. We are working to fulfill this promise.”

Barrister Wahab further added that work on an additional water line from Hub is progressing rapidly and will be inspected the following day. He also assured the people that the 77 billion rupees project for improving the city’s water supply would be completed by March. Mayor Wahab pointed out the challenges with the city’s water issues, saying, “People must understand the importance of water.

Once they do, the water crisis will be solved.” He also addressed the encroachment of the National Bank on a park in Shah Rasool Colony, stating that his administration was holding the influential institutions accountable for the benefit of the common people. “I’m ready to face the wrath of the elite, but I will continue to fight for the rights of the common man,” he concluded.
